Four groups qualify: employees, the self-employed, students, and people with sufficient financial resources plus health insurance. Non-EU family members register on form MEU2 instead.

What documents are required?

How do you apply and how much does it cost?

Apply in person at your district CRMD office within four months of arrival — you must attend yourself. Book an appointment, bring originals and copies, pay the €20 fee per person and give biometrics. The certificate is usually issued the same day or within about five working days. Registering late does not remove your right to reside but can attract a fine of up to €2,500.
