What is a yellow slip in Cyprus?
A yellow slip (MEU1 registration certificate) is the residence document EU, EEA and Swiss nationals receive when they register to live in Cyprus for more than three months. It is issued by the Migration Department (formerly the CRMD) under Law 7(I)/2007, which transposes EU Directive 2004/38/EC, and confirms your right to reside.

Who needs a yellow slip?
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who intend to stay in Cyprus for more than three months must register and obtain a yellow slip. It establishes the legal right to reside, work and access services. EU family members register on the same basis; non-EU family members follow a separate route.
What documents do you need?
You file form MEU1 at the CRMD with your passport or national ID, evidence of why you qualify to stay (employment, self-employment, study or sufficient financial means), proof of accommodation such as a rental agreement or title deed, and health insurance where required. Bring originals and copies.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
The registration certificate carries a government fee of around €20. Processing time depends on CRMD caseload and whether your file is complete, so booking an appointment in advance and submitting a full set of documents is the fastest route.
