Do personal injury lawyers in Cyprus work \"no win no fee\"?

Quick answer

Yes — no-win-no-fee arrangements are widely available for eligible personal injury claims in Cyprus. You pay no legal fees if your claim is unsuccessful. If you win, fees are typically recovered from the other party or deducted from your compensation. Individual fee terms are agreed with your advocate and are subject to Cyprus Bar Association conduct rules.

What does no win no fee mean?

Under the Advocates Law, Cap. 2, and the Cyprus Bar Association Code of Conduct, advocate fees are agreed individually and in writing, including arrangements where payment depends on the outcome. In plain terms, no win no fee — a conditional fee arrangement — means you only pay your lawyer if your case succeeds. There are no upfront fees, and no legal fees to pay if the claim is unsuccessful.

How does no win no fee work for injury claims?

Subject to Bar conduct rules, Cyprus advocates can agree fees conditional on success, and most personal-injury lawyers — including Koufettas Law — handle eligible claims this way. Typically: a free assessment of your case; a written fee agreement before work starts; your advocate pursues the claim; and if it succeeds, the other side's insurer covers most legal costs, with any agreed success fee deducted from your award. If it fails, no legal fees are due.

Who is eligible?

Eligible claims include road traffic accidents, pedestrian, cycling and e-scooter injuries, workplace accidents and medical negligence. A personal injury claim must generally be brought within three years of the injury, so acting early matters. Even if you were partly at fault you may still have a claim. Your advocate assesses the strength of your case at a free initial consultation before agreeing the fee terms.
